Mr & Mrs Potato Head: Franz & Kristin's Red Velvet Wedding Cake

Just over a year ago, we were asked to create an engagement cake for a lovely couple.
And now, the big day has come... We ♥ this wedding cake!

Outside, it's a classic all-white fondant-iced cake...
Inside, it's red, velevety & smothered with a white chocolate cream cheese frosting
made only with the best ingredients!

At first (Joy, being honest here) we couldn't see
what the big attraction was to this cake design...
but after everything was said and done, it's made a believer out of us, it's obvious why.
Kristin has great taste!

The blooming bride has always had a soft heart for Mr & Mrs Potato Head.
She collects them, in fact. When we had our initial consultation / cake tasting,
she was rather shy to mention it. We're glad she did.
We think it's made their cake even more special.  We like to have a good story to tell.
Here are a couple more shots of the sugar sculptures:

While the bride was preoccupied with the design,
the groom's attention was on the cake itself.
We appreciate his honest opinion of the original recipe which,
we have since modified and improved. So, here is the cake in all its glory:

At their wedding reception, this 3-tier white beauty, made with 8 blocks of white chocolate,
7 bags of fondant, & 6 packs of cream cheese among other things, stood so very elegantly!

Franz & Kristin, thank you for joining us in this sugary sweet journey!
We wish you God's blessings and all the best in life as you begin your wedded life together.

Connor's Wild Wild West 3rd Birthday Cake

News flash: Joy & Kenneth's little princess has arrived!!!
(Abigail) Kloé is now 5 weeks and 4 days old. There is a beautiful warm fuzzy buzz
around our little home and it's all about the littlest one.

Jane has now finished with business school (for now), and is now the proud owner of a Certificate in Small Business Management! How quickly time flies...

Amidst all of this, we managed to produce a cakescape extraordinaire - the only commission we accepted for the month of October, one we could not refuse no matter the circumstances. This family has been a very supportive client from the start, we are grateful.

Last year, we made an Ernie & Bert Cake for Connor's 2nd birthday.
This year, his mom wanted nothing less than a cakescape
and gave us 3 months (get that - 3 months) lead time!!! We ♥ her.

The theme was 'Cowboys & Indians'. Connor also loves animals,
and so the inspiration his mom has chosen was perfect for this:
Quickdraw McGraw (a classic cartoon tv show from the '60s which,
we've never heard off until this... had to watch episodes to study the characters).

Meet Sheriff Quick Draw McGraw, aka vigilante El Kabong:

Deputy Baba Looey (a Mexican Donkey):

Dog deputy Snuffles:

Featuring Connor as the 'Indian in a tee-pee':

The campfire hang-out:

As if all that wasn't enough, 15 cupcakes also went along with the cakescape, in 3 designs, all matching the Wild Wild West theme:

Thank you Connor for sharing in our sugary sweet journey! See you again next year :)

Sam's Pikachu 21st Birthday Cake

Our little brother is 'all growed up' now... he turned 21 last month.
It was such a busy month - what with the baby and Jane's final module assessments...
but family is family.

When he was younger (and much smaller than us), he loved Pikachu so much he lived and breathed it! We wanted to reminisce this memory and fuse it together with his current love of snowboarding. Hence, a snowboarding Pikachu. Get it?

Happy 21st, our dear baby brother! We love you always and forever.
